SELL OUT CROWD FOR CORAL SCOTTISH GRAND NATIONAL

THE biggest and richest day’s racing in Scotland takes place at Ayr Racecourse today (Saturday) with the Coral Scottish Grand National attracting a crowd of 18,5000.

The sell-out signs went up at the track more than five weeks ago and some fantastic races are in prospect.

The feature race, the £215,000 Coral Scottish Grand National has a field of 28 runners headed by Cheltenham Ultima Chase winner from the Lambourn yard of Nicky Henderson.

The champion trainer has never won the race and has an outstanding chance with nine yearold who will be attempting to give weight to all of his rivals.

Ante post favourite is Dingo Dollar, trained by Alan King and ridden by Wayne Hutchinson and this partnership won the race back in 2013 with Godsmejudge.

There has also been a lot of money for Irish raider Crosshue Boy trained near Wexford by Sean Doyle and the mount of Sean Flanagan.

The Scottish interest in the race comes from Big River, trained by Lucinda Russell and ridden by Derek Fox and Geronimo whose trainer Sandy Thomson has Rachael McDonald in the plate attempting to be the first female jockey to ride the winner of a Scottish National.

The main supporting contest is the CPMS Scottish Champion Hurdle in which Nicky Henderson has the top three rated – Verdana Blue, ridden by Connor Brace, Brain Power (Aidan Coleman) and Mister Fisher (Nico de Boinville).

Issued by Iain Ferguson on behalf of Ayr Racecourse. For further information please contact Iain Ferguson on 01292-294972 or 07795-565691.
