KEITH DALGLEISH is triple-handed as he bids for a first success in the Palmaris Services Braveheart Handicap at Hamilton Park on Friday night.

The Carluke trainer is represented by Eye Of The Storm, Corton Lad and Starplex in the Lanarkshire track’s £25,000 feature race.

Jim Goldie, the winning trainer for the past two years with Sir Chauvelin, is responsible for recent Musselburgh scorer Theglasgowwarrior.

The Uplawmoor handler said: “Sir Chauvelin is a bit too highly-rated this time so we’re hoping to win it again with a horse from the opposite end of the handicap. He enjoyed the step back up in trip at Musselburgh and there should be some nice staying races for him this summer.”

Mark Johnston, who has won the race twice in the last ten years, saddles Star Of The East and Rainbow Rebel while Donnachies Girl was a promising fifth at Hamilton Park’s opening fixture of the year for Hawick trainer Alistair Whillans.

The likely favourite in the eleven-strong field is Bolder Bob, trained at Thirsk by David Barron, and an impressive winner of the Buttonhook Handicap over 1m 4f twelve days ago for tonight’s jockey Ben Curtis.

Edinburgh-born Karen McLintock, now based near Newcastle, runs ex-Aidan O’Brien-trained Diodorus who makes his turf debut for his new connections after changing hands for 32,000gns at the October Sales.
