HAT-TRICK seeking Bill Cody is among an eight-strong field for the £24,000 Caledonian Cup at Musselburgh on Saturday.
After back-to-back wins at Redcar, Julie Camacho’s Malton raider bids for more success over this 1m 6f in the hands of Jason Hart who recently clocked up his half centre for the year.
Camacho’s husband Steve Brown said: “He’s enjoyed the step up in trip although it was in tragic circumstances last time as the likely winner fell late on. This is a little bit of a rise in class but he’s certainly going into the race in great form.”
Opposition to Bill Cody include Artarmon. Trained in Newmarket by Michael Bell, he was third in last month’s Archerfield Cup at Musselburgh before a recent strike at Chelmsford City.
Mark Johnston, the winning trainer in 2015 with Adele, is double-handed with Lynwood Gold and Lucky Deal while Scottish interest surrounds Keith Dalgleish-trained Good Boy Alfie and Jim Goldie’s Sarvi.
The eight-race twilight card starts with the EBF Fillies’ Conditions Stakes which features Implicit who completed a three-week hat-trick earlier in the summer for her trainer James Tate.
