IOLANI, partnered for the first time by useful conditional rider Danny McMenamin, bids to extend his winning sequence to four at Musselburgh on Wednesday.
Trained near Penrith by Dianne Sayer, he faces eight rivals in the Trial Racing UK For Free Now Handicap Hurdle.
Mrs Sayer said: “He’s won twice at Sedgefield and then at Kelso the other day so he hasn’t been doing too badly. He won on heavy ground when he was with Willie Mullins in Ireland but we have discovered he likes it less testing over here.”
Among the opposition to Iolani is Keith Dalgleish-trained Chica Buena who won on debut for the Carluke handler at Sedgefield having scored at Ballinrobe for previous trainer Brendan Duke.
Also in the line up is Susan Corbett’s Morning With Ivan, a mare who has won several times since returning to action after giving birth to a foal.
Wot A Shot won over course and distance last December and his trainer Nicky Richards said: “He’s had a nice break since his last run at Perth in the summer. We think we’ve got him in good old form and he tends to run well when he goes up to Musselburgh,”
The six-race meeting is an all-hurdle card which has allowed watering to be concentrated on one track following the recent spell of dry weather.
