DARYL JACOB took his Musselburgh strike-rate to a five wins from five rides as Donald McCain-trained Liva produced an impressive performance in the Enjoy The Jumps On Racing UK Introductory Juvenile Hurdle.
Jacob, riding for his retained owners Simon Munir and Issac Souede, made all on the 11-10 favourite to beat Sarvi by four and a half lengths.
The jockey said: “I’ve always come up here for good rides, the prize money is good and the track seems to suit our horses. Liva is very slick at his hurdles and he travels very well, that’s what you need here and it plays to his strengths.”
Monsieur Co, formerly with Paul Nicholls, won on his third start for Keith Dalgleish in the New Jumps Season On Racing UK Handicap Chase after a good tussle of the final few fences with gallant top-weight Ontopoftheworld.
Winning jockey Brian Hughes said: “The trainer and his team at home have done a grand job with him. He’s still only five and this will have do be his confidence some good so hopefully he’ll improve for this.”
Bruce Lynn secured his first win as a conditional rider on Golden Jeffrey for his boss Iain Jardine. “I’ve only had a few rides since turning professional but when I was an amateur I won on four of my first six rides,” the Hawick-born pilot said.
