PERTH Thursday report

From Gordon Brown

THE remarkable Morning With Ivan continued her winning streak with victory in the feature race on a glorious afternoon for Ladies Day at Perth yesterday.

Ridden by James Corbett and saddled by his mother Susan, the Otterburn-trained mare stormed home to land the Timothy Hardie Diamond Pendant Handicap Hurdle.

It was the 11/4 favourite’s fifth win since since returning to racing last season after having a foal and Mrs Corbett said: “She is a real star but her style of coming late on the scene is very nerve-wracking!

“She deserves a break and we might just give her one more race before she has a holiday. I may be back here or at somewhere like Cartmel.”

Borders trainer Katie Scott saddled her first course winner and in the process supplied her mother Sylvia with her first ever winner under Rules when Rory’s Valentine sprung a 50/1 upset in the Bet totequadpot At Handicap Hurdle (Div 1).

Winning rider Stephen Mulqueen went on to seal a 203/1 double on Lucinda Russell-trained Boy’s On Tour.g

Rachael McDonald had her 7lb claim reduced to 5lb after scoring on 28/1 chance Blue Kascade for her boss Sandy Thomson in the Bet toteexacta At Handicap Chase.
