Retirement Beckons was returned at 12-1 after winning the Racing TV Profits Returned To Racing Handicap over a mile at Ayr on Tuesday evening.
Ridden by Paddy Mathers, the eight-year-old, trained by Linda Perratt, was winning the seventh race of his career.
“I had a few touched off recently so it’s nice to get another one on the board,” said the East Kilbride handler after her third strike of 2023. “He won three times last year so hopefully he can have another good season.”
The opening racingtv.com Maiden Stakes went to Dark Points, a 16-1 surprise winner for Charlie Johnston and Andrew Mullen.
“You never get too surprised with a horse from this yard, especially when they get the chance to race on nice, quick summer ground,” the East Lothian jockey reported afterwards.”
Mullen completed a double two races later on Ewan Whillans-trained Billy Bathgate in the Join Racing TV Now Handicap.
