Azure Blue and Beautiful Diamond produced a thrilling dead-heat in the £50,000 Unite The Union Winning For Members EBF Land O’Burns Fillies’ Stakes over five-furlongs.
The former, ridden by Paul Mulrennan, drew her head alongside the latter, partnered by David Nolan, right on the line.
Euchen Glen took his total earnings through the £600,000 mark with his 13th career victory in the Join Unite Online @unitetheunion.org Handicap (for the Johnstone Rosebowl).
Linda Perratt struck with Tommie Jakes-ridden Moon Flight in the Jim Aitken Memorial Handicap. Jordan Electrics cut out the running until the 9-2 chance was produced in the closing stages to score by a neck.
“He’s a lovely horse we got from Sir Mark Prescott and this was just his second run on turf,” East Kilbride-based Miss Perratt said. “He was a wee bit unlucky with trouble in running at Hamilton last time but he’ll hopefully keep improving.”
Imposing Newmarket raider Big Cyril was an impressive winner of the opening Talk To Thompsons EBF Maiden Stakes.
A second winner at the track for Alice Haynes, he made all under Kieran O’Neill to beat newcomer Uncle Don by two and three-quarter lengths.
“He’s learned a lot from his debut at Yarmouth where he was the quickest away,” O’Neill said. “He’s big, a typical son of No Nay Never, and Alice loves him – he’s her pet at home – and he can only get better as he matures and runs over further.”
