J J Slevin celebrated news of his appointment as new retained rider for Simon Munir and Isaac Soude with a first and last race double in the famous ‘double green’ colours at Ayr.
The Irishman, who replaces recently retired Daryl Jacob, struck on Al Kalila and O’Toole for the powerful owners.
“I’m delighted to team up wih Simon and Issac and I’ll be trying my best as Daryl’s boots will take plenty of filling,” Slevin said. “Both winners today are trained by Stuart Crawford, that’s where I got to know Simon and Isaac and I’m really looking forward to my new role.”
Ayr’s opening card of 2025 also featured double for Lucinda Russell who struck with Derek Fox-ridden pair Walking On A Dream and Whistle Stop Tour.
And Nick Alexander was on the mark with easy novices’ limited handicap chase winner Hombre De Guerra, one of five favourites to oblige.
