EURO IMPLOSION was a game all-the-way 9/4 winner for Callum Rodriguez and Keith Dalgleish at Hamilton Park on Wednesday night.
Dictating the pace from the start, the Carluke raider gradually increased the temp from the half mile pole and held off the late challenge of Four Kingdoms by three-quarters of a length in the Stay At Hampton By Hilton Hamilton Park Handicap.
The winning jockey said: “He’s a horse at the top of his game at the moment and, given the form he is in, I’d wouldn’t be surprised if he won again. He is quite well-handicapped and his confidence is sky-high.
“I rode him from the front and I managed to get his lungs filled up round the loop and let him freewheel down the hill. He’s quick really well when I’ve asked him and we all know he won three races on the trot a couple of years and and that he also stays further than a this 1m 3f.”
Richard Fahey-trained Perfect Power was an impressive winner of the Book Our On-Site Hotel EBF Maiden Stakes under Paul Hanagan
The wel-backed 4/11 stormed home by two and a quarter lengths and his jockey said: “It’s riding horses as good as him that gets you out of bed early every morning. We though he’d win first time out at Newcastle and he’s always been so professional in everything he does. That debut brought him on mentally and physically and I’d say he is one of our better two-year-olds.”
Locally-based Linda Perratt saddled her first winner of the campaign in the shape of Retirement Beckons who scrambled home by a head at 12/1 under Graham Lee.
