Minella Drama, ridden by Brian Hughes and trained by Donald McCain, was an all-the-way winner of the £25,000 feature race at Kelso on Friday.
With just three runners taking part in the end he saw off Doyen Breed by four and a quarter lengths in the Racing’s Best Ratings With Timeform Handicap Chase.
McCain said: “He’s tricky and is a bit feral and has his own mind. My assistant Adrian Lane does a lot with him at home so a lot of his success is down to him.
“He’s a talented horse but he tries to pull up when he thinks he’s done enough. Winning again going left-handed has opened up a few more doors and he’s done well off a mark of 150.”
Harriet Graham and Gary Rutherford teamed up to land the Subscribe To Racing TV Now Handicap Hurdle with Dancewiththewind, who carries the colours of Geoff and Elspeth Adam.
Mr Adam, who is a director at Kelso, said: “It’s always great to have a winner at our local track and he’s a horse with a bright future – he will jump a fence one day.”
Kinneston trainer Nick Alexander was also on the scoresheet as Ned Tanner gained his third course success in the 50 Winners With Lucinda Russell Racing Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase.
