TAFSIR, ridden by Paul Mulrennan, lifted the Stobo Castle Ladies Day Gold Cup in front of a sun-kissed sold out crowd at Musselburgh.
Trained in Renfrewshire by Jim Goldie, the 100-30 second favourite slammed top-weight Glasses Up by two-lengths.
“That’s three wins from four starts and she was a wee bit unlucky to to have won at Newcastle last time,” said Goldie. “She’s got an entry at Ayr in a few days but this was her main aim and Paul gave her a super ride.”
Judgement Call was the most impressive winner on the card when supplying Linda Perratt with her third strike of the week in the Gaynor Winyard Trophy Handicap under Ayrshire-born David Allan.
“We had some treatment done on his back and it has clearly made all the difference,” said the winning East Kilbride trainer after the gelding had made all to score by five and a half lengths. “I’ve had great support from his owner Matt Sawers so I’m delighted to train him a horse to win four races.”
