Lucinda Russell started the New Year in style with a 7/1 Musselburgh double supplied by Johnny Ringo and Bold Light.
Johnny Ringo (4/5) landed the Henry Bocian Juvenile Hurdle from Derek Fox before Bold Light took the LiveScore Bet Best Odds Daily Hogmaneigh Handicap Hurdle under Alan Doyle.
“Johnny Ringo is quite smart and we’ll probably come back here for something on the big Cheltenham Trials weekend next month,” Russell said. “He’s also useful on the Flat so that is that option for him as well.”
Bold Light carries the colours of local owner James Scott, who said: “I can walk to the track is only across the road from here. I only paid £1,000 for this horse and he had a leg injury that was so bad that the vet advised me to put him to sleep. He had three years off so a lot of patience has been required but days like this make it all worthwhile.”
Sandy Thomson and Ryan Mania teamed up with Top Man Tom, who followed up November’s course and distance success in impressive style in the LiveScore Bet Handicap Hurdle.
“He likes if here and handled the softer ground well,” Thomson reported afterwards.
