American Hero was an impressive winner for Jim Goldie in Musselburgh’s Sky Bet Sunday opener under Paul Mulrennan.

“I know the family well and I trained this horse’s grandmother to win here,” Goldie said. “He’s done the job really nicely and we’ll be having plenty of runners at this Sunday Series as we do every year.”

The Uplawmoor trainer completed an 85-1 double when Saffie Osborne made most of the running on Kelpie Grey in the mile handicap.

“We were given a wide car park draw so we decided to go from the front,” Goldie said. We know he likes the easier ground and he just keeps on galloping.”

The most impressive winner of the card was Ice Max, who slammed Individualism by five and a half lengths in the Sky Bet Extra Places Every Day Handicap.
