Archie Watson was all smiles after his wife Brodie Hampson made most of the running on Let Her Loose in the Thistle TBS – Global Stone Paving Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap.
“It was a nice ride from Brodie and this mare has done really well for us,” the Lambourn trainer said. “She’s already won at Brighton and loves the ground.”
Grey Gray, trained at Newmarket by Ed Dunlop and sent off the 2-1 favourite, took the Thistle TBS – James Donaldson Timber Nursery Handicap in the hands of Ryan Sexton.
“She’s got plenty of speed and seems a nice progressive filly,” the jockey commented. “I was always happy and she travelled pretty well most of the way.”
Former jockey-turned-trained Ollie Pears was delighted after odds-on favourite Consoling, ridden by James Sullivan, came round a wall of horses to lead close home in the Thistle TBS – Hanson Cement EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes.
“She’s stoutly-bred but she’s got a turn of foot too and it got her out of trouble tonight,” Pears said. “She’s still in a valuable sales race at Newmarket later this month.”
