JIM GOLDIE took Musselburgh by storm on Wednesday when Tafsir, Shine On Brendan and Rock Melody supplied him with a 51-1 treble.
Tafsir and Rock Melody were both ridden by Paul Mulrennan while Shine On Brendan was partnered by Clifford Lee, who had earlier steered Indication Spirit to victory in the opening juvenile contest.
“Shine On Brendan won five races, including this one, last year but we just thought he was keeping a little bit to himself so we put the blinkers back on today,” said Goldie. “Clifford rode him in his last two races at Hamilton and Beverley when he didn’t do too much wrong so this wasn’t a surprise.”
Keith Dalgleish, who ends his twelve year stint with a licence on Saturday, struck for the final time in Scotland with Graham Lee-ridden Gioia Cieca in the Join Racing TV Now Handicap.
“I’ve known Keith a long, long time and he’s a great trainer and absolutely brilliant to ride for,” said Lee. “He’ll be some loss to the northern circuit and I wish him and his family all the best for the future.”
