Ayr Racecourse stages the first of a two day fixture tonight (Friday) with a seven card due off at 5.12pm a maiden stakes over a mile.
Some leading trainers are represented in this including the Kevin Ryan trained Marhaba The Champ who cost 120,000 guineas as a yearling and Willie Haggas’s Asean Legend who was sold for £78,000.
The likely favourite in this is the cheaper buy at 32,000 guineas from the David O’Meara yard Time Quest second on his only start at Ripon at the end of last month.
The feature race of the evening is the Racing TV Free For A Month Handicap over 1m 7f and Jim Goldie and Paul Mulrennan team up here on Grand Canal a course winner over 1m 5f last month. A similar run would see the five year-old go close and another horse worth a look in this contest is the Philip Kirby trained Red Force One who was runner-up to the Goldie horse last time out.
Linda Perratt has been back among the winners recently and could score again with Sixcor in the Staycations At Western House Hotel Handicap over five furlongs. The four year-old won over this course and distance at the end of May before finishing a narrow second at Musselburgh five days later. He looks the one to be on here.
The feature race on the second day of the meeting tomorrow ( Saturday) is the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Land O’Burns Fillies’ Stakes, a Listed race where 12 runners go to post for the £55,000 prize pot.
