Nick Alexander aims to continue his impressive run of success at Ayr on the opening card of a two-day fixture at the West of Scotland venue.

The Kinneston trainer has already enjoyed three winners at Ayr’s two meetings so far in 2025 and he is set to saddle six runners at today’s extra fixture.

It is a venue where Alexander has had plenty of success at in the past as he was on the mark at the track with a five-timer in 2022 and a four-timer in 2023.

“I must admit it does seem to be a lucky place for us – we are just one short of 90 winners there – and we love bringing horses down as its such a big, fair track,” he said. “Due to the wintry weather, we have lost plenty of opportunities over the past fortnight so a massive thanks must go to the Ayr racecourse, the BHA and the Levy Board for scheduling this replacement meeting.”

The Alexander team have a busy afternoon and their raiding party includes recent impressive course and distance scorer Hombre De Guerra in the Try Racing Racing TV For Free Now Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase.

“He’s gone up 10lbs but he did well by over six-lengths, although you never know what he actually achieved last time,” the trainer said. “We’ve had to pitch him back into class 3 company as a result and what we do know is that the form of his second behind Caldwell Potter at Carlisle is red-hot as the winner was second at Grade 2 at Windsor the other day and Hombre De Guerra, the third and fourth have all won since.”
