Mike Smith appears to hold a strong hand in the opener at Ayr on Monday as he saddles three of the seven runners including Glasses Up and Tilsitt, who have ten course victories between them.

The local handler, based just 30 minutes away at Galston, is also represented by Kondo Isami in the Every Race Live On Racing TV Apprentice Handicap over 1m 5f.

Glasses Up has dropped 5lbs below his last winning mark of 65 which was achieved last August over 1m 2f at Ayr while Tilsitt is a whopping 15lbs lower than his last winning mark which came at Ayr over the same trip two years ago.

There are some lofty reputations on the line in the Irish EBF Maiden Stakes for two-year-olds over five-furlongs.

Kevin Ryan’s Hammer The Hammer was a E200,000 breeze-up purchase and he is entered in the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes at York.

And although they don’t hold any fancy entries, Richard Fahey-trained Strong Warrior and Bryan Smart’s Managing Director weren’t much cheaper at 150,000gns apeice.
