DARYL JACOB is looking forward to wearing the famous ‘double green’ colours of his retained owners in the feature race at Ayr on Tuesday.
The Irishman, rides Stuart Crawford-trained Gold Cup Bailly – one of his three mounts – in the Virgin Bet Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase for Simon Munir and Isaac Souede.
“I rode him when he won pretty well on his chasing debut over this sort of trip at Wexford last month,” Jacob said. “And he was an odds-on favourite at Ayr last spring when beaten over hurdles by a horse called a Ahoy Senor!”
Also in the line-up are Olly Murphy-trained Doctor Ken, successful on his first run over fences at Aintree earlier this this month, and Rose Dobbin’s Captain Quint, who makes a swift reappearance after unseating Craig Nichol at the first fence at Newcastle on Saturday.
Fresh from a double at Carlisle on Sunday, Sandy Thomson saddles Bak Rocky in the Virgin Bet Handicap Chase which is a qualifier for the Go North Monet’s Garden Series.
The Berwickshire raider was a close runner-up on his chasing debut at Kelso after returning from wind surgery.
