Nicky Richards is looking forward to the first meeting of the year at Ayr on Tuesday when the Greystoke trainer, who enjoyed a course treble last month, saddles three runners from his Cumbrian base.
President Scottie starts off in the Happy New Year From Ayr Racecourse Maiden Hurdle followed by Marown in the Jim ‘Havana’ McPherson Handicap Chase and Aubis Walk in the Ayrshire Wedding Show Novices’ Handicap Chase.
“It’s always a place we try to have runners at as it’s a lovely galloping track and they tend to produce nice, jumping ground,” Richards said. “These three would all have chances and President Scottie ran a nice race at Ayr last time.
“Aubis Walk can be a little keen but she did the job nicely last time at Ayr on her first run over fences. I thought Sean Quinlan gave her a lovely ride and she should go well again.”
