Gordon has a wealth of experience of racing through his background in the written and broadcast media. His current principle role is reporting and supporting the scene in Scotland on Racing TV and relaying the latest news with Scottish angles.

WILLIAM BUICK makes a rare trip to Hamilton Park on Wednesday when he has six rides on the seven-race card.

The winner of three St Leger’s plus the 2018 Derby aboard Masar, he was also joint-champion apprentice in 2008 with David Probert.

Buick, a retained jockey with Godolphin and number one pilot to Charlie Appleby, has only been to the Lanarkshire track on two previous occasions – he had one winner (Jeu De Vivre) from four mounts on a evening meeting in June 2011 and his last trip also yielded a winner (Gregorian) from five rides in September 2012.

His rides are all likely to be prominent in the betting and he starts with Explicit for Mark and Charlie Johnston in the Hamilton EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes.

Other horses he partners include Inver Park for recent 1,000 Guineas-winning trainer George Boughey in the Weatherbys Global Stallions App Handicap and Simply Sondheim for the same Newmarket handler in the Cleanstay At Hampton By Hilton Handicap.

Iain Jardine is keeping his fingers crossed for a change of fortune at Hamilton Park on Wednesday.

The Dumfriesshire trainer has four declarations in the shape of The Gloaming, Rose Bandit, Crystal Guard and Havana Party and he said: “The horses are running well but we have just been a wee bit unlucky with one thing and another. They all have bits and pieces of chances and The Gloaming could go close in the first race if she gets a trouble-free passage for once.”
