DIANNE SAYER is looking forward to running Jackhammer off bottom-weight in one of the £20,000 feature races on the final card of the year at Hamilton Park.
The Cumbrian raider, partnered by Scottish National-winning jockey P J McDonald, faces eight rivals in the Hampton By Hilton Hamilton Park Handicap over 1m 1f.
“He hasn’t run on the Flat since winning over this course and distance in June but he’s been quite busy running over fences!” Sayer said. “He’s good quite a good record at the track so hopefully he will run well again.”
The opposition to Jackhammer includes recent impressive Goodwood scorer Mr Professor from the opposite end of the handicap. He shoulders a 5lb penalty and will be bidding to giver both trainer Dominic french Davis and rookie pilot Owen Lewis their first winner at the south Lanarkshire venue.
Jim Goldie saddles Two Auld Pals, a two-time winner this season at Hamilton Park for his Glasgow-born owner/breeder Jimmy Long.
There is also £20,000 up for grabs in the Gartcraig Inn@Always A Warm Welcome Fillies’ Handicap over a mile.
Anjo Bonita, jointly-trained by Roger Fell and Sean Murray, is chasing a hat-trick following her victories at Hamilton Park in August and York last month.
Classic Times may be the one thy all have to beat as Roger Varian’s Newmarket visitor was a ready winner on her handicap debut at Sandown 12-days ago.
