PROVERB bids to make it two wins from two visits to Hamilton Park in the Ladies Night feature race on Saturday evening.
Trained in Newmarket by George Boughey, the three-year-old shoulders top-weight of 9st 9lb in the inaugural running of the £30,000 Boe “Soba” Handicap over five-furlongs.
The long distance raider, who has been competing in Listed class in France, impressed in a course and distance maiden last September for a trainer with a healthy 5/9 strike-rate at the South Lanarkshire venue.
Rivals to Proverb include two others with unbeaten records at Hamilton Park as Tajalla and Count D’Orsay both won on their only previous visits to the track in May and June of this year respectively.
Iain Jardine is hoping for a change of luck for Ravenscraig Castle in the Gas Call Services Handicap.
A close fourth on his first run at the track in a valuable race in May, he has since finished runner-up on his last three outings at Carlisle, Ayr and Haydock.
“He’s just been so unlucky as he’s a horse we’ve always liked,” said Dumfriesshire-based Jardine. “Now we know two miles isn’t his trip his turn will surely come again.”
In a race won last year by subsequent Lanark Silver Bell heroine Wickywickywheels, the same connections are represented by two-time course and distance scorer Two Auld Pals while Haizoom also knows where the Hamilton Park winning post is located.
