Jim Goldie is hoping Kelpie Grey can regain the winning thread in the £30,000 feature race at Hamilton Park on Thursday.
The Uplawmoor raider is set to face ten rivals in the Weatherbys Digtital Solutions Clyde Handicap over six-furlongs when the stalls will be back in their familiar position against the stands rails.
“He had proved hard to catch in his first three runs but he bumped into an impressive winner at Ayr last time,” Goldie said. “Although he’s won over a mile, he comes from quite a speedy family so it’s worth trying him back at six.”
Among the opposition to Kelpie Grey is Glenfinnan, who won at Ascot 27-days ago and is entered for the Wokingham Handicap at the royal meeting later this month.
Fellow top-weight Roman Dragon also holds the same royal Ascot engagement after three solid efforts at Chester and Bahrain already this year.
The card gets underway with some well-bred sorts strutting their stuff in the Sodexo Live 2YO Series Maiden Fillies’ Stakes.
All bar Layaali are making their debut including likely market principals Komorkis and Liberalised trained by Richard Fahey and Karl Burke respectively.
