JASON HART is looking forward to his ride aboard El Astronaute in the British EBF Flying Scotsman Conditions Stakes as Scotland says farewell to the 2021 Flat season at Musselburgh on Monday.
The £17,000 five-furlong dash has attracted a decent quality field of speedsters including Tarboosh and Makanah, who landed the spoils in 2019 and twelve months ago respectively.
Hawick-born Hart has won eight races on John Quinn’s evergreen eight-year-old and he said: “El Astronaute is a pleasure to have anything to do with and he’s a legend of a horse. He’s gone well at the track before and he’s usually away from the stalls very quickly and loves bowling along in front.”
Another in opposition to El Astronaute is Roulston Scar, the top-rated horse in the line-up on a BHA mark of 105. Trained in Newmarket by Simon and Ed Crisford, he is on a hat-trick following wins in conditions stakes company last month at Leicester and Chelmsford.
The most valuable event on the eight-race card is the £20,000 Racing TV Bass Rock Handicap over seven-furlongs.
Hayadh, the short-head winner in 2018 off a 3lb higher mark and now trained by Harvey Bastiman, could go well again while Richard Fahey is double-handed with Zip and National League, who came third in the corresponding race last year.
