IN-FORM trainer Grant Tuer has his eye on the feature race on sold out Ladies Day at Musselburgh on Friday with Lion Tower.
The Yorkshire raider, a recent winner of a valuable prize over course and distance faces eight rivals in the £20,000 Stobo Castle Gold Cup, a handicap staged over seven-furlongs.
Tuer, a former leading amateur pilot over jumps, who rode two winners from just six mounts at the East Lothian venue, said: “It’s another decent prize to aim at and we know he handles the track pretty well from the other Sunday. He’s got a nice draw which helps as he likes to get on with things and he’s had a brilliant season already.”
Among the opposition is Keith Dalgleish-trained Gometra Ginty, now a four-time Musselburgh winner following an all-the-way success a fortnight ago.
Top-weight Munadab, Thunder Of Niagara and Bulls Aye are other course scorers in the line-up.
The Madeleine Cup looks a competitive affair and John Quinn’s Melody King has a 5lb penalty to defy as he bids to follow up a cosy strike at Hamilton Park on Tuesday.
There are plenty of course and distance winners on parade including Primo’s Comet, Afandem and veteran mare Economic Crisis, who will be making the 159th appearance of her career.
