MIKE SMITH has his eye on the £20,000 feature event at Musselburgh on Wednesday with his Ayr specialist Glasses Up.
The Galston raider faces five rivals in Scotland’s longest Flat race, the Garden Stirling Burnet Portobello Cup, which is staged over 2m 2f.
“He was back to his winning ways to win his seventh race at Ayr last time as he was entitled to do off that mark,” said Smith. “But he’s no one-trick pony as he has won at Musselburgh before and I think he goes there with a great chance.”
The field includes Jim Goldie pair, last year’s fifth Two Auld Pals, and Baez, who is on a hat-trick following her wins in July at Catterick and York.
There is plenty of course and distance form on offer in the William Hill Epic Value Handicap over seven-furlongs.
On A Session, Judgment Call and Manigordo all boast wins at this trip at Musselburgh while the other two runners, Abduction and Love De Vega, arrive after strikes at Ayr and Hamilton Park respectively.
