OLLIE PEARS is looking forward to running his course and distance winner Ready Freddie Go in the feature race at Musselburgh on Friday evening.
The gelding is among the declarations for the £20,000 Thistle TBS – Taylor Maxwell Timber Handicap over five-furlongs.
“He’s in good form and the ground will be okay for him as well,” said Pears, who is based at Norton, near Malton. “Harry Russell knows him inside out as he has won fives times on him and Ready Freddie Go was impressive when winning his maiden at the track as a two-year-old.”
Rivals to Pears’ Yorkshire raider include Only Spoofing, the winner of the the race last year for Irish handler Kevin Coleman, and there are several other course and distance winners such as Bryan Smart’s Princess Karine and Jim Goldie-trained Jordan Electrics in the line-up.
Top-weight Grey Gray is a rare representative for Newmarket trainer Ed Dunlop in the Thistle TBS – James Donaldson Timber Nursery Handicap.
Dunlop has a strike-rate of five winners from just 26 previous runners and his juvenile filly was a close fourth in slightly better similar company over six-furlongs three week ago.
