Wasdell Dundalk and jockey Danny McMenamin bid for a repeat win in the £15,000 feature race at Perth on Monday.
Trained in Cumbria by Lisa Harrison, he faces four rivals in the Peugeot And Citroen Commercial At AutoServicesPerth Handicap Chase over three miles.
Twelve months ago he spreadeagled the opposition when storming home by over five-lengths in what was the middle leg of three successive strikes over course and distance.
“He’s bit higher in the weights now but he always seems to run well at Perth and Danny gets on great with him,” Harrison said. “Since coming to us from Jonjo O’Neill, he’s also finished second and third a few times so he’s more than paid his way.”
Wasdell Dundalk comes up against some in-form horses including top-weight Olivers Travels for Peter and Michael Bowen, who has won his last two races, and Evan Williams-trained The Gypsy Davey, who has been runner-up in his last three starts, the first of which was over 2m 4f at Perth in July.
There is also a competitive line-up declared for the £12,000 Auto Services Perth Support Dundee Bairns Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase.
Rock Melody, Catherine Chroi, Slainte Mhath, Lady Celia and Iris Dancer have won a total of 15 races between with the latter, trained in Cumbria by Tristan Davidson, leading the way with six.
