Some of Keith’s other runners on the Knavesmire weren’t disgraced either especially Soldier’s Minute and Broxi.
The former, who has run well at the track in the past over six-furlongs, came from off the pace to chase home Acclaim The Nation in Wednesday’s opening five-furlong dash while Broxi set a fierce pace before going down all guns blazing to bag third place an hour later in the Acomb Stakes for two-year-olds.
It’s busy week coming up in Scotland starting with a bumper card containing plenty of runners at Ayr on Monday. The most valuable race is the QTS To Sponsor Ayr Gold Cup Handicap over a mile and it looks likely to be a wide-open contest.
There promises to be a competitive card at Musselburgh on Wednesday afternoon. The feature race is the class 4 Upskill Your Job With Scottish Racing Academy Handicap over five-furlongs and speedsters familiar with the winning post at the East Lothian track this summer include Gowanbuster, Economic Crisis and Militia.
The show moves onto Hamilton Park where Friday night sees the prospect of a tremendous evening boasting quality races such as the British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies’ Handicap and the truly ancient Ladbrokes Lanark Silver Bell.
On Sunday it is the turn of Perth where the ITV Racing cameras will be covering the pick of the action.
Betting firm bet365 are the new sponsors of a card on which the highlight is the £25,000 Sam Morshead Perth Gold Cup Handicap Chase.
It promises to be a terrific meeting.
