Few stables are in better form over jumps and on the Flat than that of Iain Jardine.

His latest winners came at Musselburgh the other night when he enjoyed a quick-fire double with Alix James and Talk Now who were both well-supported favourites in their respective races.

The unseasonal rain came in time for the former as he produced a carbon-copy performance of last October’s all-the-way course and distance strike under highflying Paul Mulrennan.

Talk Now, making just her second appearance for Iain since arriving from Ireland, was always close up and led fully two-furlongs out before her comfortable success for locally-born Andrew Mullen.

The two jockeys are familiar faces at their mounts’ Carrutherstown stable as the pair often pop in to ride out on their way north to the likes of Ayr and Hamilton Park.

Iain ended up saddling eight winners in July under both codes and there is no reason why he shouldn’t keep up a handsome strike-rate right into the autumn and beyond.

Many congratulations go out to Rowan Scott for riding out his claim recently.

His landmark victory came at Ripon aboard Citron Major for his boss Nigel Tinkler.

Rowan left Keith Dalgleish for Tinkler’s Malton yard a couple of seasons ago and he has never looked back.

Another prodigy to hail from Hawick, he started going to Alistair Whillans when he was a 13-year-old schoolboy. When back home in the borders Rowan still rides out at the yard where his career was launched.

As he pointed out when I interviewed him on Racing TV the hard work really starts now as he has to compete with his weighing-room colleagues on level terms!

Racing coming up in Scotland this week, still behind-closed-doors, takes place at Ayr on Wednesday afternoon and at Hamilton Park on Fright night. Start times for the eight-race cards are 2.10pm and 5pm but those could change if there are any divided contests.
